Why order takeout when you can make this delicious and simple kimchi fried rice at home in just 30 minutes? This homestyle fried rice is made with just a few ingredients and is one of my favorite recipes.
Not only is it easy and healthy, but it's also customizable, allowing you to throw in whatever ingredients you have in your fridge. Just don't forget to include kimchi, the key ingredient in this recipe. You can also add protein, such as chicken, ground beef, or pork, to make it more filling.
Personally, I love to top my kimchi fried rice with a runny fried egg and melted mozzarella cheese. The creamy, melted cheese balances out the sourness of the kimchi perfectly. So if you love fried rice, be sure to give this recipe a try and enjoy a tasty and satisfying meal at home.
To make this recipe, you are going to need:
- 1 small cube of butter
- 1 small onion diced
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 2 spring onions, thinly sliced
- 1 cup chopped Kimchi
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 cups cooked rice
- 1 Tbsp. sesame oil
- 1 fried egg
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese
- White sesame , Thinly sliced spring onion, Nori flakes
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to make Kimchi Fried Rice with Cheese:
1 Heat the butter in the pan, and add 1 small onion diced to caramelize with spring onion and garlic cloves minced to aromatic.
2 Add 1 cup of chopped kimchi and stir-fried for a few minutes.
3 Add the rice and drizzle sesame oil on top of the rice. Stir the rice with kimchi until it mixes well. Reduce the heat and gently press down the rice and move the rice to the halve side of the pan.
4 Spread mozzarella cheese on the other side of the halves pan. Heat the frying pan over low medium heat and cover it with a lid until the mozzarella cheese is melted.
5 When done, top with a sunny fried egg and sprinkle with nori flakes, spring onion, and sesame.
